ASEAN and the Plus Three Countries (China, Japan and ROK) Continue Their Joint Efforts to Realise the Establishment of ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS) (uploaded on 27 Nov 2007) In support of the initiative by the Republic of Korea (ROK) to establish ASEAN Plus Three Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS), the 2nd Consultative Meeting was held in Seoul on 9-10 October 2007. Organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Kyungnam University, ROK, the Meeting discussed the Implementation plan for future activities under the Establishment of ASEAN+3 Center for the Gifted in Science (ACGS). The Kyungnam University of ROK, the proponent of the project, has recently submitted a project proposal to the MOST and the Gyeognam Province of ROK to seek funding support to establish a physical center co-located at the Kyungnam University. Kyungnam University will submit a detailed Project Implementation Document (PID) in January 2008 for further review by ASEAN countries, China and Japan. Activities which have been planned to be undertaken in 2008 include (a) Launching of the ACGS; (b)ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Gifted in Science (tentative); (c) Training programme for the trainers of the Gifted in Science; and (d) ASEAN+3 Expo for the Gifted in Science. To help concretise the activities under the initiative, several Task Forces will be established to prepare for project proposals on (a) ACGS teachers training of trainer; (b) Science museum visiting programme; (c) ASEAN+3 future Scientists Olympiad-or a more appropriate name; and (d) ASEAN+3 Expo for the Gifted in Science (led Korea). To further review the implementation plan, the 3rd Consultative Meeting for the ACGS will be held on 2-4 June 2008 in Masan City, ROK.(DT) Dates associated with this event No associated dates for this event.
