The ASEAN government officials, scientists, experts and entrepreneurs of the biomass energy will meet their counterparts from China in the China-ASEAN Science and Technology Forum on Biomass Energy Development and Utilisation in Kunming, China, 28 October – 1 November 2007. The Forum aims to promote China-ASEAN cooperation in the field of energy and contributes to the decreasing petroleum consumption and environment pressure.

China and ASEAN Countries are expected to share also information on their national biomass energy resources and current activities in the field of biomass energy development and utilisation at the Forum. The Forum is expected to provide avenue for discussion to identify new initiatives of cooperation in the development of biomass energy as a prospective alternative/substitute to the existing energy source, i.e. fossil fuel.
