The Committee on Science and Technology (COST) will hold its 53rd Meeting at Furama Hotel & Resort, Da Nang, Viet Nam, on 25-27 April 2007. The Meeting will discuss and exchange views on the issues pertaining to past, current and future S&T projects in ASEAN. The progress of cooperation in S&T with ASEAN Dialogue and Sectoral Partners will also be presented in this Meeting. Highlight on the agenda of the Meeting is the deliberation on the directives made by the ASEAN Leaders at the 12th ASEAN Summit, Cebu, Philippines, on (date), and the ASEAN S&T Ministers made at the 4th Informal ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology (IAMMST), Kuantan, Malaysia, on 28-29 August 2006. The follow up activities made by the 4th Meeting of the ASEAN-China Joint Science and Technology Committee (ACJSTC), 1st Meeting of the COST Plus Three, and others will also be discussed.

Along this Meeting, the 8 Sub-Committees under COST namely (i) Sub-Committee on Biotechnology (SCB), (ii) Sub-Committee on Food Science and Technology (SCFST), (iii) Sub-Committee on Infrastructure and Resources Development (SCIRD), (iv) Sub-Committee on Marine Science and Technology (SCMSAT), (v) Sub-Committee on Materials Science and Technology (SCMST), (iv) Sub-Committee on Microelectronics and Information Technology (SCMIT), (vii) Sub-Committee on Non-Conventional Energy Research (SCNCER), and (viii) Sub-Committee on Space Technology and Applications (SCOSA) will also convene their respective Meetings back-to-back with the 53rd Meeting of COST. In addition, the Advisory Body on ASEAN Plan of Action on Science and Technology (ABAPAST) and Advisory Body on ASEAN Science Fund will also hold their regular Meetings before the COST Meeting. The sideline Meetings are scheduled for 23-24 April 2007.
