Multimedia Training and Resource Development, Islamabad, Pakistan, 20 November – 2 December 2006 (uploaded on 6 December 2006) A training course on Multimedia and Resources Development was conducted in Islamabad, Pakistan on 20 November – 2 December 2006. The activity implemented under the ASEAN-Pakistan Sectoral Cooperation was attended by 2 delegates from Cambodia and 1 delegate each from Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Six participants from the host country also attended the training course. The training was organised by the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of Pakistan. The 2-week training includes theoretical lectures, hands-on sessions and study visit to local television stations, namely the Pakistan Television (PTV) and ATV. The participants were also given an opportunity to visit selected cultural sites of Pakistan. The training programme focused mainly on video and website development. Lectures were given on various applications of video technology such as video-making, pre- and post- video editing, and video technical specifications. Hands-on training on video and image editing using software applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premier Pro were also conducted. Favouring requests from the participants, NISTE also conducted a lecture and hands-on training on the use of Adobe Flash for animation for website development and enhancements. The participants acknowledged with gratitude the new techniques and knowledge learned which they deemed useful in the conduct of their line of work. Pakistan, as ASEAN’s sectoral partner, has expressed its keen interest to engage in collaborative activities with ASEAN not only in the area of Information Technology but also in fields of Materials Science and Space Technology. It is expected that more capacity building activities in said areas will be implemented soon. |
