Draft Summary Record of the EGM on APAST

The ASEAN Experts Group Meeting (EGM) on the draft ASEAN Plan of Action on Science and Technology (APAST) 2007-2011 was held at the Ministry of Research and Technology (RISTEK) of Indonesia in Jakarta on 25-26 July 2006.

The EGM exchanged views and suggested refinements on the conceptual framework of the draft APAST. The overall objectives of the draft APAST were acceptable to the EGM. There were, however, new additions and changes to the strategic plans and actions.

The EGM has also come up with proposed flagship programmes according to the goals of set by ASEAN Vision 2020, the VAP, the APAST, the directives of ASEAN S&T Ministers and other relevant declarations. A set of criteria is also proposed for consideration of the ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST) on the selection of flagship programmes.
