To start the cooperation between ASEAN and the APCTP, both organisations will jointly organise the APCTP-ASEAN Workshop on Advanced Materials Science and Nanotechnology (AMSN 2008) which will be held in Nha Trang, Viet Nam, on 15-21 September 2008. The Workshop aims to share the outcomes of research work in the field of nanotechnology and to discuss future cooperation between SCMST and APCTP. In ASEAN, the Workshop has been endorsed by the Sub-Committee on Materials Science and Technology (SCMST). The Government of Viet Nam and the Asia-Pacific Centre for Theoretical Physics (APCTC) will provide support to the participation of ASEAN scientists.

ASEAN and the APCTP are currently establishing a formal linkage of cooperation.
